Over the past few weeks, a huge number of user complaints have appeared in our Telegram chat about the fact that the confirmation code for logging into WhatsApp is not being received . Because of this, people simply cannot communicate with friends and loved ones. You can’t transfer everyone to Telegram. We decided that we couldn’t just leave this situation, so we took a new SIM card and started experimenting. Through simple manipulations, it was possible to determine that if the number is already authorized on some phone, then there are no problems with transferring it to a new smartphone.
Moreover, in such a situation, you will have several ways by which you can receive a confirmation code on WhatsApp . You are definitely not limited to just SMS messages and calls. And even if this doesn’t work and the code doesn’t arrive in WhatsApp , the new smartphone can be configured as an auxiliary device and catch the moment when everything works as it should.
How to get a code for WhatsApp
For the experiment, I took a new MTS SIM card. Before this, this number was not registered on WhatsApp. Therefore, I couldn’t immediately simulate the situation when a person buys a new smartphone and starts transferring data to it. I had some difficulty creating a WhatsApp account for the new number . The code for WhatsApp did not arrive on the first try . But the second time I received the coveted SMS with the code. By the way, I did not change the region to Kazakhstan and did not turn on the VPN.
But then the fun began. If you plan to transfer WhatsApp to a new smartphone , then under no circumstances log out of your account on the old one. The fact is that the confirmation code can be received as a push notification on your old phone. Then you won’t have to wait for any SMS or calls. It works like this:
- Make sure that on your old smartphone you are logged into your WhatsApp accountand notifications are activated;
- Go to the “Chats” tab and do not lock the screen;
- On your new smartphone, launch WhatsApp and enter your phone number;
- Confirm your entry, and a large banner with the desired confirmation code will appear on the screen of your old smartphone.
In such a situation, the main thing is not to accidentally brush off the received notification. Therefore, be careful and enter the verification code in WhatsApp on your new smartphone . Logging out on the old device will happen automatically, so no extra actions will be required from you.
SMS with code for WhatsApp
However, even if you leave your WhatsApp account active on your old smartphone, when entering the number on a new device, an error may occur that the number of requests for a confirmation code has been exceeded . Don’t rush to panic. In such a situation, do the following:
- As soon as you see an error that the number of requests to receive the code has been exceeded, just click “OK”;
- Tap the “Need help getting a code” button;
- Select SMS message from the list.
I tried to get the code this way six times over three days, and I was able to do it every time. I have not experienced a single failure myself. Although, to be frank, it was not possible to receive a PUSH notification with a WhatsApp confirmation code in all cases. The error with exceeding the number of requests occurred much more often. If for some reason you don’t receive SMS, then just try ordering a call. Although I am more than sure that the message will be enough for you. The most important thing is to never log out of your WhatsApp account on your old smartphone . As practice has shown, this is the most important point to successfully log into WhatsApp on a new device.
How to log into WhatsApp without a code
If for some reason the code for WhatsApp does not arrive , then there is another way for you that will allow you to use the messenger and communicate with friends and family. To do this, you need to save the application with your account on your old smartphone, and register the new one as an auxiliary device . No verification codes or SMS are needed for this. Here’s how to do it:
- Make sure that you are logged into your WhatsApp accounton your old smartphone ;
- On your new smartphone, open WhatsApp and go to the stage of entering the number;
- In the upper right corner, click on the three dots in the circle and in the menu that appears, select “Bind as an auxiliary device”;
- As soon as the QR code is displayed on the screen, take your old smartphone and go to WhatsApp settings on it;
- Select “Linked devices” and tap the “Link device” button;
- Scan the QR code and establish a connection.
Now you can safely use WhatsApp on your new smartphone. To avoid being kicked out, be sure to log into your account on your main smartphone once every 14 days. Periodically try to get a confirmation code according to our instructions and sooner or later you will succeed.
